Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 May 2026

SAFE Labs ("we", "our", "us") is an independent research and media organization. This policy explains what personal information we collect through thesafelab.co, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. We keep this plain and short.

1. What we collect and why

a) Contact & enquiry form

When you submit the contact form on contact.html, we collect your name, organisation, email address, enquiry type, and message. This is used solely to respond to your enquiry. Data is delivered to us by email via Web3Forms and is not stored in any database we control.

b) Newsletter signup

If you sign up for our research newsletter, we collect your email address. We use this to send you research updates and new publication alerts. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any newsletter with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line.

c) Research Network application

When you apply to join the SAFE Labs Research Network via join.html, we collect your name, email, institution, role, domain of expertise, LinkedIn/profile URL, research background, and areas of interest. We use this information to assess your application and, if accepted, to match you with relevant research projects. This data is delivered to us by email via Web3Forms and is not stored in any database we control beyond our email inbox.

d) Popup quick-interest form

If you submit the quick interest form via the popup overlay, we collect your name, email, and primary expertise area. This is treated the same as a research network enquiry.

e) Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (via Google Tag Manager) to understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages are visited, how long people stay, and where they come from. This uses cookies and may process your IP address. Google's privacy policy governs this processing: policies.google.com/privacy.

We do not use analytics data to identify individuals.

f) Local storage

We store a single key (sl_popup_v1) in your browser's localStorage to remember that you have dismissed the network popup so it does not reappear for 30 days. This does not leave your device and is not transmitted to us.

2. How we use your data

  • To respond to enquiries and applications
  • To send research updates if you have subscribed
  • To understand aggregate usage of the site
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes

5. Your rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at ah@thesafelab.co.
